Drawing inspiration from LA’s vibrant cityscape, the bold lighting concept showcases graphic, lit panels that evoke the electric energy of downtown's expansive billboards and signage. The interiors are finished in polished concrete and blackened steel, inspired by construction materials, and scaffolding prevalent throughout the city, with linear led ceiling pendants mirroring the rhythmic cadence of streetlights.
A custom linear branded lightbox, designed to display a different graphic at every season, follows the full length of the interior ceiling and wraps down onto the wall to anchor the store’s point of sale. High-powered 3000k directional track heads were used in the ceiling to balance the color and brightness cast by the immersive lightbox and refocus attention onto the retail.
Recessed millwork displays, nestled on either side of the store, offer a contrasting intimate and contemplative experience, with monochromatic finishes and soft, luminescent lighting. Integrated shelf lighting with 3000k led illuminates the sportswear like sculptures in a fine art gallery.
The transition from the bright and energetic main floor into the private guest dressing rooms presented a unique lighting challenge. In this space, it was important that guests feel calm and comfortable to thoughtfully evaluate their retail selections. To achieve this, 3000k led 3-foot diameter lensed circular fixtures were recessed into the ceiling.
Overall, the lighting design of Magnlens at Westfield Century City showcases a distinct and evocative aesthetic that mirrors the brand's ethos and enhances the customer experience.
